Frank is a long time open source contributor and privacy activist. He launched several initiatives to make the internet more secure and more federated. Examples are the open collaboration services and the user data manifesto.
In 2010 he started the ownCloud project. In 2016 he left ownCloud together with the core team and founded Nextcloud as successor to bring the vision to the next level.
Frank is a German open source software developer, known as the founder and developer of the cloud software Nextcloud.
